H Multi-Stage Compressor

Horizontally-split multi-stage compressor

The ROOTS® horizontally-split multi-stage compressor provides efficient and reliable operation while offering easy access for maintenance. A choice of impeller materials along with a variety of sealing arrangements allows this design to be applied to air or process gas applications.

  • Flows from 9,000 to 125,000 cfm (15291 to 212376 m3/hr)
  • Polytropic heads to 90,000 ft.
  • Choice of several impeller materials
  • API capability
  • ROOTS® Control packages
  • Labyrinth, carbon ring, mechanical seal arrangements
  • Variable axial inlet guide or variable peripheral inlet guide
  • Compressor 2, 3, 4 stages available
  • Horizontally Split Centrifugal Compressor Design: Features top and bottom casing halves, rotor assembly, inter-stage diaphragms, seals, and bearing stands. The inlet section can accommodate fixed or variable guide vanes for flow conditioning or process control. Suitable for both up and down inlet and discharge connection orientations. Compliant with API-617 and API-617 standards.
  • Primary Drive Options: Electric motors, with or without variable frequency drives, and steam turbines are the primary drive options. Internal combustion (IC) engines have also been utilized in select instances. A separate speed increasing gear box can be included if required for performance.
  • Compressor Lube System Options: Three main options are available: integral lube system, console lube system with a separate reservoir mounted to the baseplate frame, or a separate console shipped loose for installation near the compressor. Lube systems designed to meet API-614 Chapters 2 or 3 as well as API-672.
  • Boxed Construction: Utilizes structural supports for bracing and rigidity, with grouting pockets, anchor bolt holes, and leveling screws for additional stability and rigidity during operation. Lifting lugs are incorporated for ease of transportation. Can be supplied with a drip lip and/or non-skid decking.
  • Conditional Monitoring and Local Control: Provides conditional monitoring for the compressor, driver, and lube oil system. The local control panel, whether baseplate-mounted or off-mounted, contains the intelligence for positioning inlet guide vanes. Offers real-time local data through gauges, switches, or transmitters.
